The band, produce and perform in a relaxed and organic way, where ideas are explored and laughter is adored – that’s when the magic happens! The combination of raw talent, a great friendship, story telling and a hypnotic energy allow for creative freedom and a natural honesty in the music, which is underpinned by a folk/pop aesthetic.

These emerging recording artists bring a vital vibration for your soul and make for a great live act, definitely worth watching, so why not come along to the launch and introduce yourself to this fabulous band whilst helping us to support Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People.

‘Eidolon’- A phantom, an apparition. An Idol, one that is adored, often blindly or excessively. The sound of stringed instruments, violins;

T H E  I D O L I N S”

Karen Smalley: Writer, vocals, acoustic guitar, piano
Claudine Barker-West: Acoustic & electric guitars, mandolin, banjo, piano, keyboards, bass, percussion, kit & multi-instrumentation
Nick Scott:Vocal harmonies, acoustic guitar & banjo

Common appreciation of great music and songwriting brought this talented trio together. Life, death and a twist of fate spawned “The Idolins”; an acoustic folk, easy listening, pop band. Karen Smalley-Turner (the principle songwriter, vocalist and guitarist) and Claudine Barker-West (multi-instrumentalist) met while playing acoustic music at an ‘open-mic’ night’ in Nottingham around 2002. In 2010, guitarist and vocalist, Nick Scott became the 3rd official member of the band.

The Idolins have played numerous gigs, events, radio platforms and festivals and are now looking to promote their work nationally and internationally by securing a contract with a record label over the coming year.

Post the album launch, the group are due to feature at Nottingham Pride Festival on Saturday 30th July 2011 and the Waterfront Festival on 20th August 2011.
